Out with high-contrast severity in with monochromatic lightness. A modern transitional aesthetic with a touch of glamour were the criteria for this space. Keeping a more masculine feel was also a must. This space had to shed its old-world traditional styling, paint colors, and heavy espresso woodwork paired against tiffany blue walls. Something light and airy to displace the stress and drama of the typical workday was what the homeowners asked for. Changing the paint colors completely transformed the space in the right direction. People, including us, are always stunned at the impact paint colors can make, and in this scenario, it made a world of difference. After visiting a model home, the colors were decided, Sherwin Williams Repose Gray for the walls and Pewter Cast for the built-ins, wainscoting, and coffered ceiling.
The two colors still give a level of depth while keeping it airy. An executive study and conversation go hand in hand which meant we needed an accent chair. The chair in the corner was found in another room and at the time it was covered in a deep burgundy chenille. The curved back was a great shape for the study but needed a new look. After it was reupholstered in an aqua geometric jacquard it softened the space. The light fixture was selected for its modern-rustic masculine feel which pairs nicely with the hair on hide rug. Both offset the room’s glam art pulling it back to the specific metrosexual Texas dad we were decorating for.
