An eclectic primary bedroom designed to reflect a couple’s Asian/European background. They wanted a romantic, tropical, eclectic, modern- transitional, bohemian look for their primary bedroom. They were very specific, and it was a welcomed challenge. Once the decision was made for the bed everything seemed to fall into place. The bed has an oversized carved headboard at 85 inches tall, in any case this bed is epic. It grounds the deep teal room with white and provides contrast while providing a dose of exotic romance and is the focal point of the room. To further offset the darkness of the wall color (Behr – Juniper Berries), mirrors with feminine organic curves were incorporated.
After the bed was ordered the search was on for tall dressers that are 33.75” in height. The weathered light grey dressers give a more tailored look beneath the mirror while balancing the carved headboard. In order to keep the bed as the focal point, the bedding was selected in shades of white and heavily relied on laying textures to keep it from falling flat. The Mongolian lamb euros, geometric cut velvet shams, and cotton sateen coverlet accented with a Ted Baker floral duvet cover make the heavy bed appear lighter. The distressed traditional rug is from Loloi and the modern-rustic industrial sideboard with textured metal and mango wood finishes the look nicely. The heaviness of the sideboard balances the bed on the opposing wall.
The bamboo blinds were selected to solidify a tropical vibe. The couple was very pleased with the outcome because their room made them feel like they were in Bali. It’s an eccentric space where nothing matches, however, all the pieces complement each other and create a great cohesive look.
